. . . . .

This 'n' that 'n' the other

From Poet X of PDX: "On the afternoon radio show, the DJs were oohing and ahhing about the day's sunshine. Local meteorologist Matt Zaffino's response: 'Don't thank me. I'm in sales, not production.'

"I've seen a second one, so maybe they're scattered here and there and everywhere.

"The one seen daily on my way to work is above the door to a corner store. A medium-large sign, it proclaims the presence of an ATM inside. On the left and right of the large 'ATM' are four short, heavy horizontal bars meant to suggest bar codes.

"From a distance, it's easy to think the sign reads the same as one of Alice's Wonderland cookies: 'Eat Me'!

"Want great fast-food fries? Go to the drive-thru at 5 in the morning. Fries so hot you have to cool them off by dangling them out the window as you drive down the street.

"Funny looks? It's dark and at 5 a.m., there's no one around to see anyway!"
